Rachel Deacon was born in London and studied at Chelsea School of Art graduating in 1991.

Rachel's work is primarily concerned with the female figure. Shapes and contours are used to create a strong composition while rich colours, light and shadow are used to create the timeless ambience of Rachel's work. Often the starting point for Rachel's work will come from reading literature particularly short stories and poetry. From these narratives she will translate an idea and create a scene in her work. As the viewer one can immediately understand what they are looking at has much to do with what has just happened or is about to happen to these women.

Rachel is inspired by such artists as Paula Rego and Frida Kalo. She also enjoyed much success through her series of regular exhibitions. She currently lives and works in London.
