Claire Astaix was born in Paris in 1953 of Dutch parents both of whom were artists. She started painting in 1974 and from 1979-1980 was a student at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts.
Her first exhibition was at Clermont Ferrand in 1977 and since then she has exhibited regularly in France.
Although she is a relative newcomer to lithography it seems to be a natural medium for her, using lithographic crayon she draws a series of plates to give a subtle pointillistic effect.
